Transferring an already registered domain involves changing the registrar company that provides the domain name registration service, so after the transfer, you’ll have to manage things like renewal payments or DNS modifications through the new domain name registrar. The transfer process is standard with most universal and country-specific domain name extensions. Some country-code extensions are more specific and involve different steps, but in the general case transferring a domain name involves several basic procedures and one of them is unlocking the domain. The lock is a security option, which is being embraced by more and more domain registry organizations. It is a standard feature supported by all generic Top-Level Domains. If a domain is locked, it won’t be possible to start a transfer process, so nobody can even attempt to take your domain. The lock can be annulled only through the account where the domain is registered in the first place and all new domain names that support this functionality are locked by default the moment they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Hosting

If you order a hosting from our company, you’ll be able to manage all domains registered through us via our Hepsia Control Panel and you will be able to unlock any of them with only a few clicks of the mouse. All registrations will be shown in alphabetical order in the Domain Manager section of the hosting Control Panel and for each one of them you’ll notice a tiny padlock logo. Clicking on it will show you the present security lock status. If the domain is locked and you would like to transfer it, you will just need to click once more and that’s it. Locking a domain name is just as easy and since the domain names are managed in the very same location as the web hosting account itself, you will not need to log in and out of different interfaces.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you’ve registered a domain name through us and you wish to transfer it, you can easily unlock it via the exact same Hepsia Control Panel, which you use to administer your semi-dedicated server account. All registrations will be displayed in alphabetical order in your account and you will see a tiny padlock-like icon on the right side of each domain name there, on the condition that its generic or country-code extension supports the registrar lock feature. You can see whether the domain is locked or not by clicking on this icon and alter the present status by clicking on it once again. You can then go ahead and start the domain name transfer procedure straight away without the need to wait for the status to be changed on WHOIS lookup sites, as the change will propagate instantly without you or us having to do anything else.
